PrimeLink's Fiber Optic Build
Fiber Optic Backbone - Fiber Optics represent another exciting part of the future of PrimeLink. In the spring of 1998, PrimeLink organized the construction of a fiber optic network from Albany, New York, to Montreal, Quebec. In 1999, fiber optics cable was installed through this important 240 mile corridor and the first “off ramp” was pulled to a regeneration site near PrimeLink headquarters at PARC. This $40,000,000 project represents the first network backbone of its kind in the Champlain Valley. With the development of this fiber optic line, the entire Champlain Valley will benefit from the unlimited reach of electronic communications. Companies seeking advanced telecommunication solutions to reach the world will take advantage of PrimeLink’s broadband capabilities. As a Plattsburgh-based company, PrimeLink is directly involved with the local community on many levels and is committed to the growth and prosperity of our economy. On the local level of communications PrimeLink has developed a local communications infrastructure, that includes a build out of the fiber network throughout the City of Plattsburgh. This network will ensure that Plattsburgh enjoys access to broadband technology for voice, data and eventually video communication for many years to come…a major element in attracting and retaining strong and healthy business interests. PrimeLink's 240-mile route of fiber optic backbone between Albany, New York, and Montreal, Canada is a vital link. Being in a rural area, this fiber backbone is essential to the developmet and growth of the Champlain Valley. This build creates a vital link in this federally recognized trading zone. Whether you require transmission of information through this area or beyond to a thousand other destinations, PrimeLink can coordinate the flow of your information to anywhere in the world.
Whether you need to continue on to Tokyo or Los Angeles, you can change lanes and continue the superhighway flow of your information to its final destination. With relationships with providers on both ends, PrimeLink can help you keep the flow going.
If your information only needs to travel along the Albany to Montreal route, PrimeLink can establish local loops to meet individual needs.
Security and Technology Buried along the Canadian Pacific Railway, the conduit system is established in a remote and secure area. Safeguards are in place to allow for a quick response in the unlikely event of a problem. The line is meticulously maintained: easily accessible to PrimeLink, but carefully protected from the rest of the world.
The range of available bandwidth is DS-1 to OC48 with plans to expand to OC192.
